It was hard to believe it — but they had finally finished up the mission Emily started so many years ago. What she had always dreamed of was now a reality. The Farthings were Sim-millionaires! And they could finally relax and maybe indulge just a little bit of the finer things in life.
Liam and Jessica no longer had to worry about pinching pennies because they had certainly amassed more than enough to live on comfortably for the rest of their lives…and their children’s lives…and their childrens’ lives…and so on and so forth. Still, it would have been silly for them to make a drastic life change. And it just didn’t make sense to have worked so hard towards becoming Sim-millionaires only to waste away their hard-earned simoleons on frivolities.
Liam continued to work as a Patron of the Arts, filling his spare time with crafting at his woodworking bench and painting. Jessica continued to tend the garden, paint and care for their home. Activities were all done for fun now, as opposed to before, when they did it all for the money. Because they chose to still keep working, Jessica and Liam were able to bring in a decent amount of simoleons to balance out whatever they may have spent so they hardly saw any depletion in their wealth. Even after hiring a maid to clean the house and a professional gardener to help Jessica maintain the family’s prized garden.
Their new financial status also helped to bring them even closer as a family as it gave them the ability to do activities together — like go on family vacations!
Liam was so excited to be able to take the family to Granite Falls. They had never been anywhere outside of the confines of their neighborhood and it was going to be a really nice treat for them all. He rented a lovely two-story cabin near the water.
“This is a really nice place, Liam, but are you sure this isn’t too much? It looks expensive.” Jessica said once they had arrived to the Lakeside Retreat. He had reserved the place for the week, costing them over §6,000!
“No need to worry about that, my love. We’re Sim-millionaires! And this…this is just a drop in the bucket. A small dip into our household funds.”
“I know, but…we’ve never spent this kind of money before in our lives. We’ve always been frugal when it comes to that.”
“Yes, we have, but I think we’ve worked hard enough throughout our lives to be able to enjoy a family vacation in nice cabin by the lake with amazing scenery like this.” Liam responded, gesturing to the landscape around them.
“I just don’t want to go crazy with the spending and lose all our money.”
“We won’t, my love. I’m still working. You’re still painting masterpieces. Plus, the family garden is still producing a good amount. So even after you and I are gone, the girls will still have some income — so long as they take good care of it. We’ll be fine, ” he reassured her. “Now, I think it’s time we start actually enjoying the fruits of our labors.”
And he was right. The family had more than enough to sustain generations of Farthings comfortably. Their descendants wouldn’t have to worry about working a day in their life if they didn’t want to. Quite the accomplishment, considering Liam and Jessica were only the 2nd generation in the Farthing line.
They considered renovating the family home when they got back from their vacation, to make it more fitting of a wealthy family, but decided against it. Just because they could afford to spend the money on something that grand, didn’t mean they should rub it in their neighbors’ faces. Plus, they loved that home and all the memories they had made inside of its walls. They didn’t need to change a thing.
While on vacation, they spent a lot of time relaxing together and visiting different areas of Granite Falls. But their favorite place above all were the falls located in the national park.
While everyone one was having fun fishing it its crystal clear waters, Liam took a moment to admire the beautiful view. He had never seen anything so breath-taking. Having been so focused on completing the Rosebud Challenge, he had never had the chance. But now that it was all over, they were all free to live their lives the way they wanted, no longer held back by any restrictions. Liam smiled as he thought about his parents. They would be so proud of their accomplishments and the loving family they had created. And, you know what? He was, too.
